Verifying your Google Business Profile makes sure your business appears in Google Search and Maps, so customers can find and trust you. This article explains how to start verification in Mobal and how each of Google's verification methods works.
Before you start: make sure your business profile has been created. If not, sign up with Mobal to create your Google Business Profile through our platform.
How to start verification in Mobal
Go to Profiles in the left menu and open the location.
Select the Connections tab.
Click Google Maps or Google Business Profile.
Select your preferred verification method.
On the Connections tab (1), a profile that needs verification has a red Not verified badge (2).
Verification methods
Google decides which methods each location gets.
1. Postcard
Google sends a postcard with a 6-digit verification code to your business address.
It usually arrives in 1 to 2 weeks.
How to complete it:
Log in to your Google Business account.
Click Verify now.
Enter the code from the postcard.
2. Phone
Google calls your business number with a verification code.
Not available to all businesses. It depends on your category and location.
How to complete it:
Select Verify by phone in the verification options.
Answer the automated call and note the code.
Enter the code to complete the process.
3. Email
Google sends a verification email to the account linked with your profile.
Choose Verify by email.
Click the verification link in the email. Your profile is verified straight away.
4. Instant verification
Available if your business website is already verified in Google Search Console.
The website must match the URL in your Google Business Profile.
If you're eligible, you're verified straight away, with no extra steps.
5. Video recording (most common)
You record a video in Google's platform. It can't be filmed in advance or recorded in parts. You need to show:
The location of your business, for example street and number signs, nearby businesses or landmarks.
That your business exists, for example the storefront or permanent business signage.
That you manage it, for example unlocking the store or staff room, opening the cash register or accessing a point-of-sale system.
If you have problems uploading the video, try making it shorter.
6. Live video call
Google may offer a live video call. You're redirected to Google's platform to schedule it, and a Google representative confirms your location and business during the call.
Tips for a smooth verification
Make sure your address, phone number and email are accurate, and don't enter mismatched information.
Keep an eye on your mailbox, email or phone for the code, and enter it as soon as you get it.
Don't try to verify in several ways at the same time.
For more detail, see Google's official verification guidelines.
Good to know
Mobal can't skip video verification. Google requires it for new locations. Google decides which methods each location gets, so some may be offered instant, phone or email verification instead.
Some changes can trigger verification again. Changing the business name, phone number, address or primary category may make Google ask you to verify again. You'll see this warning in Edit details before you save.
